Kabza De Small and Kelvin Momo are entangled in a legal battle over a contract dispute. The disagreement centers around a record label agreement that was signed by the two parties.
According to sources, Kelvin Momo, whose real name is Thato Ledwaba, was an artist under Kabza’s record label, Piano Hub. The agreement stated that royalties from Kelvin’s music would be paid every six months, along with commercial promotion of his music.
However, Kabza failed to uphold his end of the agreement, and instead, paid royalties directly to his label, Piano Hub, instead of Kelvin Momo. The lack of transparency and fulfillment of the contract has reportedly damaged the close friendship that the two shared.
Kelvin Momo has decided to take the legal route, filing a lawsuit in the Johannesburg High Court against Kabza De Small and his label, demanding a compensation of R1 million.
The legal battle stems from Kabza’s failure to meet his contractual obligations and for not properly managing the distribution of royalties. It appears that the dispute has soured their once-strong friendship.
“It’s difficult to mix friendships with business. PianoHub has many artists, and it’s hard to manage them all at once,” said an insider.
The drama has sent shockwaves through the music industry, and it remains to be seen how the situation will be resolved.
