The M4 iPad Pro Just Killed Premiere

The Unholy Alliance: How Apple’s Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 is Ruining Video Editing

For the past two weeks, I’ve been forced to endure the abomination that is Final Cut Pro for iPad 2. The original release was a joke, and this new "update" is just a pathetic attempt to pretend like Apple actually cares about the video editing community.

Let’s start with the "new" feature that’s supposed to revolutionize the way we edit: the Final Cut Camera app. It’s a standalone app that allows you to record Live Multicam sessions with footage streaming in from up to four iPhones or iPads. Sounds impressive, right? Wrong. It’s just a way for Apple to distract us from the fact that the actual editing experience is still severely lacking.

And don’t even get me started on the file management system. You still can’t import complete folders into Final Cut Pro, just individual files. And once they’re imported, you still can’t organize them into separate folders or bins. It’s like Apple is trying to make us all go crazy.

But hey, at least the Live Drawings feature is somewhat useful. Using an Apple Pencil, you can draw animations directly onto your clips. Too bad it’s the only feature that’s actually worth using.

The rest of the app is still a mess. The market for mobile video editing apps is more competitive than ever, and Apple is still playing catch-up. CapCut has been extremely popular among TikTokers, and DaVinci’s iPad app has features that are actually useful.

So, why do I keep coming back to Final Cut Pro on the iPad? Because, despite all its flaws, it’s still the most immersive way to edit. There’s something charming about using your hands to edit, even if it’s not as efficient as a mouse and keyboard.

But let’s be real, Apple. If you want to stay relevant in the video editing world, you need to step up your game. Fix the file management system, add some actual features, and stop pretending like you care about the community.

The Verdict: Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 is a mess, but it’s still the most immersive way to edit. Apple needs to shape up and stop pretending like they care about the video editing community.
